Other Daily Poem

Okay not every day but every other day. Get it?
I will start off with my favorite. "The Charge of the Light Brigade" It is greatly inspiring to me not only when I am feeling like everything is going wrong but when work seems unfair.

The Charge of the Light Brigade

Alfred Lord Tennyson
1.
Half a league, half a league,
 Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
 Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
 Rode the six hundred.

2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
 Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
 Rode the six hundred.

3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
 Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
 Rode the six hundred.

4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
 All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
 Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
 Not the six hundred.

5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
 Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
 Left of six hundred.

6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
 All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
 Noble six hundred.

Escape

Okay here comes another one of my sermons designed just for you.
Escaping the world
All ways we seek to escape the meanness in the world but it never works. Let me tell you something. By yourself, whatever you do you can’t drown your worries permanently. Temporary escape only make them worth because you don’t deal with them until they get so large, you get depressed.
But God is here to deliver you only we have a problem. Do you really know how to fully trust God? God is not the God to get you out of depression just like that. Here is a checklist to see if you really are devoted to God getting you out of the hole you are in.
I spend at least 15 minutes a day in pray.
Praying is important. Just talk to God about how you are feeling and ask him for his help.
I spend at least 15 minutes doing my devotion.
Devotions are often pressed down to as fast as we can do them to get on with our life. Pay attention and really learn.
I spend at least 15 just reading the Bible.
This helps with your general knowledge of the Bible.
I ask God to help me submit to him every day.
Paul said, “I die daily.”  This is coming from a man who gave his whole life to God and was persecuted beyond belief. Yet he still died daily to himself. We are the biggest problems of ourselves. Our own body is drawn away of our own lust.(James) Only God can save us from ourselves because we tend to focus on ourselves. Jesus, other, you is the way to live life.

Laughable

Okay this one is hilarious... maybe.
Only in movies can people fall in love in one day.
LAUGH NOW.

Of Solomon
Proverbs 1:17
Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird!

If you think the wicked are going to lay the trap for you to join them in the open, you are sadly mistaken. They will do it slowly but surely. They will not show you the end result but you need to discern it. God will gladly, though, give you the wisdom to avoid the trap.

Communication Advice

Albert Einstein- “The day technology out runs communication, the world will have a lot of idiots.”

Of Solomon
Proverb 1:15-16
My son, walk not thou in the way with them; restrain thy foot from their path; for their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood.

Solomon says here, “Don’t even walk in the way they tread!” Put shackles on your feet if you must but don’t go to their street. Why? Because the way they go is the way to make misery. The evil go to do evil so it only makes sense to stay away from their path. Meaning that we should stay away from bad influence and bad places because one foot in that path, and not only we will be hurt but others.

Biblical stuff

Biblical Bite 2
Did you know that Shiloh had the Ark of the Covenant the longest? And did you know that no temple has gone for longer than 500 years not even the Tabernacle?  And if you don’t know what the Ark of the Covenant was or is depending if it still exists, the Ark was the most important item in the temples. It signified God’s presence and also bore the Shekinah glory till it left Israel.

Of Solomon
Proverbs 1: 11-14

If they say, “Come with us; let us lie in wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause; let us swallow them up alive as the grave, and whole, as those that go down to the pit; we shall find much precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil; cast in thy lot among us, let us all have one purse”

Danger! We need to watch especially for signs of anything to do with attack in any form innocent, if you will, people, such as teasing. Don’t go with them. Stay away from them because slowly your ‘lot’ will fall with them. Be careful of friends, and a path that is lucrative “We shall find much precious substance” but oh so deadly.
(Also this is one of the many story form lessons in Proverbs.)

Oh devoted fans I have added to the comments anonymous under which you can comment. Hip hip hurrah!!! Okay maybe not such jubilation. COMMENT!

Devotions

You know those things that often seem to delay us on our way in life? Usually the first thing we tend to drop on a busy day is our devotion. Only we have one problem, it is the most important thing of the day.

We often times complain God isn't blessing us or helping us with our depression and what not. But how can God help us if he isn't first in our life. Devotions are a good place to start because not only do they tend to make us sacrifice something to do them, but they are a time to escape to God’s world.

If you skip your devotions what does that say about your walk with God? God should be first; is He?

Life and Hobbit

Life 2
Pizza is great. The work to make it from scratch is not. Trust me on this, on Friday I was working about 2 hours to do it. The worst part is the dough. But the more you work for something the better it tastes. ;)
Is it just me or do your siblings try to annoy you with your least favorite songs? Songs in my opinion are powerful especially when I can’t concentrate on an Algebra test because I have a song stuck in my head.
Whoever though running blog with posts almost every day would be fun? Well I certainly did not. But this blog now is one of me favorite pastimes.
I was wondering why celebrities have so many crushes, and the girl they actually do date, dumps them without thinking, “Hey, this guy is popular. I should keep him?” ;)
I finally finished my Bible for the 10th time compared to my brother’s 34 times (if I am correct).
“Don’t make me kill you dwarf. It would be my pleasure.” Legolas

In my opinion the Hobbit was great. Tauriel was better than I expected and so was Smaug. Thorin has a really good actor. I really liked when Smaug burst out of the gold covered in it.

History Factionary 2

Hitler and his Blasting Problems

Why did the bombing of England fail in WWII? Well, because it became the London bombing. See the Royal Air Force (RAF) was getting bombed out of existence. But then Hitler (who was no genius in military strategy) changed tactics when British bombers hit Berlin. He switched his bombing to bombing London give the RAF time to recuperate and fight back thus ending the London Blitz.
No you now it, do not forget it. Got it?

My Humor and Solomon's advice

The Wisdom in Humor sections are my own famous sayings. Well maybe not that famous, but they are humorous … I hope.

How can a guy be a heart breaker, a heart stomper, a heart mender, a heart stopper, and make heart race all at the same time? At least that is how it seems in books...

Of Solomon
Proverbs 1: 10
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

This is a prelude, if you will, to the next few verses. This is a sage father advising his son on sinners. Enticing can be changed to peer pressure. So basically the Bible is warning us not to fall into the trap of being enticed. Stand your ground.

Lost Advice and Co.

Now for the Lost Advice section, what is that you may ask? Well, just random little known quotes.

To accomplish something great you need a plan and not enough time.

And now for Of Solomon

Of Solomon
Proverbs 1:8,9
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother ;(nine) for they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Parents are the best place to start for instruction and wisdom. The precedents (laws), they teach you can guide you the rest of your life and be like an award. People will complement us on our behavior, and it will be a great aid to us when getting a job etc. We need to pay attention (hear) to what they say to us. For example many of the great teachers of old had great mothers and fathers in the mix such as Timothy.

That is all for this session. I hope you read all. *Stares*

Life is life.

The Life section is life. No, not the game, Life, but life itself. Now let me get this out of the way first thing; I am Dutch by birth, Bonairian because I was born in Bonaire( we will never say we are completely Dutch), and Ghanaian because of my dad. Now that we have cleared that out the way we can continue.
Now I do homeschool as most of you do, and of course, I find it hard to live without many friends other than my good internet friends (Don’t complain interneties). My situation was getting better because of the homeschooling group, but now we live in the middle of nowhere. It is a good 45 minute or more to get to anything of importance. Trusting God in one hard thing to do, but the harder life gets the more I have to lean on him, and wait is a common response.

It has been burning over here in the weather forecast. Enough to make you sweat the moment you enter a room without fan. Our water is even heated. That’s all for now folks. GET.

Biblical Bite and others.

Bible though- Biblical Bite

Time for a bite of the Bible and thus the Biblical Bite. Cool or what? Did you know that the Bible is mainly in the last 4000 years, other than Genesis, and did you know that three years after David ascended to the throne of all of Israel that it was exactly 3000 years ago as of 2000? Well did you know it? Yeah right as if you did.

Of Solomon
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

To honor and reverence God gives you the desire to learn about him and the world. Many great men and women are Christians. But despising God, you despise true wisdom, because God’s Word is the true guideline for life with his comfort and direction. Without God’s guidance, your life will remain without true guidance though you may have all humanly knowledge you can ask for. Knowledge’s true purpose is to gain wisdom which only God can help you get.

History Fact of the Day Revived.

Here I will revive out of the ashes my poor history fact of the day and bring it to a glorious role in my blog. Or maybe not... Hmm I also should do the missionary fact...

General Custer was not the hero most people make him out to be. First of all he didn’t listen to the sage council of his men but proceeded to attack the Indians which proved to be too much for him. Next of all the Indians had repeating rifles which to was relatively new technology (developed in the Civil War) and that aided to his downfall. Last he didn’t even go down pistols blazing. Custer ran out of ammunition in his rifle, and an Indian was charging him. He swung his gun around and pointed it at the Indian to try to fake him and that failed. The Indian jumped him and there ended the famous General Custer.

Tomorrow I will have Of Solomon back in session with the mystery article of tomorrow.

Of Solomon- part 2

And back again with Of Solomon. Also in the future Of Solomon will grace most issues.
Chapter one, verses 46
Verse four- To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
Subtilty is another word for prudence which means that it is help the easily swayed simple man to gain the guidance they need to stay firm. And for the young man/teen/young adult, wisdom and discernment are given.
Verse five- A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
No one is above learning not even the wisest. Remember that when you have a boring sermon that you have a heard various versions of before. The wise are not those who think they know it all, but the ones who are willing to learn from others.
Verse six- To understand a proverb, and interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
This is what a wiser person will get from the proverbs. They will actually increase in their brain power and in their discernment of riddles and understand other things better.
Now that my table is finally relieved of its burden I will unleash the Historian Factionary tomorrow

Intro to Proverbs Part one

Proverbs – Of Solomon
Your most likely are wondering why I am burdening my table to four heavy books. Well if you could see me sitting here you would be wondering. This is the first article Of Solomon the part of the show where I give you some insight into Proverbs. Well here goes the first proverbial session which is an introduction into the book by its own author.
Proverbs Chapter 1 verses 1-6
The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment , and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
Verse one- The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
This verse, obviously, shows who wrote this book but on the other hand other contributed to it and some of them were and still are everyday sayings. Solomon also spoke 3000 proverbs but not all of the collection is here.
Verse two- To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
Proverbs are here to help us to give us wisdom and to understand whether what one says is actually true or false. It instructs us in daily life and helps us to see what is right and wrong.
Verse three- To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

It helps drill these attribute, if you will, into our head for daily use.
Tomorrow I will finish the second part of the intro to Proverbs.

Intro

Jake Asmah here with his first blog entry. This blog is going to be slightly educational but hold on don’t leave me yet, I said slightly educational. But first we should start off with an autobiography of me and some about my parents. I will start with my dad and hang tight, this is one interesting story.
My Dad grew up in Ghana where we currently are as missionaries. He grew up Catholic and intended on becoming a priest but later on he flew to Nigeria and got a visa to go to Trinidad and Tobago. My dad, John Morrison Asmah, went with two other Ghanaian. Eventually my dad and one of the Ghanaians went to South America where they landed a job in Argentina.
Later on someone invited my dad to a Word of life soccer rally in Argentina and there he accepted Christ. After that he tried to fly to Canada, but the person who was going to buy the ticket for him stole his money and ran. Thus he decided to sign up for the Word of Life Bible Institute where, in his third year he met my mom who was visiting with her brother, who was currently in the Bible school. Eventually, he asked my mother to marry him and go back to Ghana with him, and she accepted.  They were married in Bonaire and lived there for some time.
Now to my mother’s story. My mother, Mrs. Marylyn Asmah, was born as Marylyn Paula on the island of Curacao which is just next to Bonaire. She grew up in Bonaire which also is part of Netherlands. She had some Catholic background for the earlier part of her life but her families eventually started going to Prince de Pas, our home church obviously a Baptist church.  She was a teacher till she went to the World of Life Bible institute.
Now we switch back to their married life. My brother was born on June 3, 1997 and I follow him about 2 years later on August 15, 1999. Awhile after my birth we moved to New York for Missionary training. There we stayed for about two year till we moved to Ghana in 2003. Every three years we go back to America and Bonaire for Furlough. Currently I am 14 years old and we are living in Dodowa after moving to times, once in 2005 and the other time just this year.

Ghana is relatively up-to-date. We have several shopping malls, KFC, and an Apple Store. Accra is the current capital though they want to move it to Dodowa soon.  Only one internet service provides internet out here though.
Tomorrow I will have the next section out and I hope to do one a day.
